Søren Grammel
Søren Grammel is a curator for contemporary art.
From 2013 until October 2020, Grammel has been Head of the Department of Art Since 1960 / Contemporary Art at Kunstmuseum Basel.
Last year, he curated Isa Genzken – Works from 1973 to 1983 at K21 in Düsseldorf, the adapted version of an exhibition he designed for Kunstmuseum Basel in 2020. Currently, he is working as a lecturer at the master program Fine Art at the Zurich University of the Arts, among others.
Previous posts include Director of Kölnischer Kunstverein, Director of Grazer Kunstverein, Curator-in-Residence at Akademie der bildenden Künste Vienna, Curator at Kunstverein München, or Artistic Director of the Videonale 9 in Bonn.
A recurring motif in his exhibitions is the linking of artistic discourses with social issues, as for example in Circular Flow – On the Global Economy of Inequality (2019/2020), Martha Rosler & Hito Steyerl: War Games (2018), One Million Years – System und Symptom (2014), Public Folklore (2011), The Symbolic Commissioner (2010), A person alone in a room with Coca-Cola-Colored Walls (2006) or, It I s Hard To Touch the Real (2001–2006).
Grammel was born in Germany in 1971.

The Heidelberger Kunstverein (HdKV) is dedicated to the exhibition, new production and mediation of regional and (inter)national contemporary art. For more than 150 years, artists of their time have been able to be experienced and discovered here. At the same time, the HDKV aims to act as a public forum for combining aesthetic and social issues and as a lively platform for civil society. In addition to its work on exhibitions, this is achieved through extensive accompanying and educational programmes, which are often based on networks
and initiatives.
With approximately 800 members, the HDKV is one of the art associations with the most members in relation to the number of inhabitants in Heidelberg in Germany.

Become a Member
The Heidelberger Kunstverein is one of the oldest art associations in Germany. It devotes itself to the presentation and education of contemporary art, and the reflection on socially relevant questions. Becoming a member, you support the work of the Heidelberger Kunstverein and give a contribution to the advancement and presentation of contemporary art on a regional, national and international scale.
Membership Benefits:
You regularly receive per post our programme with information about the exhibitions, artists and events of the Heidelberger Kunstverein.
You get all-year free admission to all exhibitions and events in the Heidelberger Kunstverein and in almost 300 other art associations, members of the ADKV.
You have the opportunity to purchase the artists’ editions at a preferential price.
You have a discount on publications of the Heidelberger Kunstverein.
You can enjoy our art trips and other events, such as guided tours by members and visits to artists’ ateliers.
You participate in and have a right to vote at the annual member meeting of the Heidelberger Kunstverein.
All membership subscriptions are tax-deductible.
Yearly membership subscription costs € 50,
Reduced membership — € 35 (valid for senior citizens, artists and unemployed).
Student yearly membership costs € 12.
If you become a member after the 1st of July, the membership subscription for the current year is reduced to € 25 and € 18 for reduced members.
In case your partner is already a member, you can get a reduced membership subscription for € 25.
Companies can become supporting members of the Heidelberger Kunstverein:

Editions
At the end of every year the Heidelberger Kunstverein offers Editions from artists, whose work has been exhibited throught the year. The Editions, which have been created in the context of the newest exhibition, show the diversity of the topics and the media, which the presented artists use in their work. Purchasing one of the Editions you not only bring joy to yourself or the person receiving it as a present, but you also support the work of the Kunstverein and the artists, and give a significant contribution to the advancement of the arts and the cultural diversity.

Advisory Committee
The Advisory Board of the Heidelberger Kunstverein consists of twelve members who are elected by the Assembly of Members for a period of four years. The Advisory Board assists the Executive Board in an advisory capacity and through active collaboration and is convened at least four times a year. In accordance with § 11 of the Statutes, the elections of the Advisory Board took place at the Annual General Meeting 2022. After the election, the Advisory Board is composed as follows:
