Hanno Rauterberg in Zeit:
›In Vivian Greven’s pictures, one senses a concern for connectivity, and strangely enough, the aesthetics of classical antique sculpture and digital Instagram–schlock meet in such a natural way as if they had always belonged together. There’s marble’s coolness; there’s the sleekness of displays, the will to create a flawless surface, and at the same time, a throbbing desire to break through perfection and show vulnerability. Especially in Greven’s pastel colour gradients, which do not shy away from kitsch and ground the figures in a surreal way, resist smoothness, unexpectedly condense into crisp red or bright mint, and make the bodies look immensely suffused. This art oscillates between desire and calculation, and so does everyone who stands before it, wanting to turn away and at the same time being pulled in.‹ (translated) Hanno Rauterberg, Zeit, 2019
