›City of Tales‹ (2018, 21 min)

›City of Tales‹ is based on the idea of the ›audiovisual migration‹ of memories that are restaged in the present. Nassiri shot for it in L.A. during ›Nouruz‹, the Persian New Year. Neon lights dominate the cityscape, reality seems to blur – are we in L.A. or Tehran? The camera follows a group of residents who recite voice messages in Persian dialects from Iranians who no longer live in their home country. They recount a Tehran of the 1970s that was heavily influenced by Western culture. Through the oral testimonies, Nassiri gives shape to the Iranian diaspora in L.A. today.
