Maya Schweizer on her exhibition STIMMEN (Voices)
With her experimental films, Maya Schweizer embarks on a search for history exploring notions of identity and memory. The short film is her medium of contemplation, her vocabulary for telling a story and creating an imprint of realities. Starting from subjective and social practices within urban spaces, she identifies not only inscribed narratives but also everyday actions in terms of situational aesthetics and overlapping stories. When Schweizer makes visible cultural identity, the role of individuals as political actors, or individual memory, it is always also about vicarious experience in social milieus.
